Spring Lake Colors: Selections from The Lake and Shore Series
Spring Lake Colors: Selections from The Lake and Shore Series, features recent photographs from both collections. These new lake photographs feature a wide range of color and mood. From calm mornings, with still lake waters and lush blue skies to the dark and dramatic storms that herald the arrival of spring. This year was marked by numerous heavy rainstorms that brought much needed water to the region.
The ice thaws and the shoreline is revealed again. Snow becomes sand and the lake walls show the damage done by winter storms all along the lakefront. Even into May, the waters remain icy cold. Gradually the sun warms this vast body of water making it possible to swim again.
Each spring feels like a new beginning for both of these projects. The gray and brown of winter fade into the colors of a new season. As winter ends and the days become longer and warmer, the lake begins to take on a whole new palette of color. This spring remained cold much later than prior years. Bringing cold wet storms that continued to appear over Lake Michigan well into late May.
