Noah Feldman: Esquire’s Portrait of the 21st Century

Noah Feldman

Noah Feldman is a professor at Harvard Law School and one of the world’s foremost experts on the intersection of religion and the law: a specialty that regularly takes him beyond the ivory tower and out into the world. For example, in 2003 Feldman helped draft the interim Iraqi constitution as an advisor to the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq.

He is an adjunct senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and a prolific author. His most recent, The Fall and Rise of the Islamic State, looks at traditional Islamic law and how it can be made compatible with justice and democracy today. His next book will be about the Supreme Court, where he once clerked for Justice David H. Souter. A Rhodes Scholar, Feldman holds a D.Phil. in Islamic Thought from Oxford University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
