Oil Stick and Charcoal Drawings Studio Video

Oil Stick and Charcoal Drawings Studio Video

I’m introducing a body of drawings, in oil stick and charcoal, that were created between 1993 and 1995 in this studio video.

The 1993 Venice Biennial Director Achille Bonito Oliva wrote in his essay on these works:

“Schatz’s forms, whether in two or three dimensions, are always concrete linguistic realities, statements of an order of ideas that is never repressive and closed, but fertile and unpredictable.”

From the 1996 exhibition catalog: Lincoln Schatz, Sculpture + Drawings + Prints at Galeria Ferran Cano in Mallorca, Spain.

This exhibition featured abstract geometric forms that “germinate and multiply with unexpected placements that unfold” in both two and three dimensions. The drawings, both on canvas and paper, are included in this collection today and are available framed or unframed. Please don’t hesitate to message if you would like to learn more about these works or have any questions.
