Moss Grows Thickly

The moss grows thickly on the trunks and branches of the coniferous trees clinging to steep terrain of Ousel Falls, Montana. Rich black soil allows these trees enough nutrients to sink their roots into, although layers of rock sit just beneath the surface, making their connection to earth precarious.
