This is Graftings 1. Created in 2023 of stainless steel, it spans 76″ x 96″ (h) and can be installed in a number of ways. It is shown here wall-hung. Graftings is a sculptural series that, through abstraction, alteration and extrapolation I create simultaneously real and fantastical tree canopies from hundreds of photographs. Through both technology and collaborating with skilled craftsman, these complex and highly detailed sculptures became possible after an extensive period of development. This sculpture can be seen in full and further detail in subsequent slides.
