A Tree Falls in Vermont

A Tree Falls in Vermont

A tree has fallen in the forests of Vermont. It is held in place for now just above the forest floor by branches that refused to break. Moss and lichen cover most of the tree now. And slowly over time the remaining branches that support the weight of the trunk will decompose. And eventually the trunk will come to rest among the ferns where the tree will provide nutrients to the forest that surrounds it.
