Expansive Lake Ice

The lake stretches away from me as I stand on the shore, expansive lake ice spreading in front of me. A patchwork of ice floes breaking apart slightly in the sun of midday. The sky a color of blue that only comes with winter air. Tonight the ice will freeze as light fades in the sky. Turning solid again by morning.
